COMMITTEES:

  • Administration & Finance

  • to generate income necessary for support of the Council programs; to prepare annual budgets; to oversee expenditures and supervise investments; to provide office space and equipment; to develop personnel policies and manage staff contracts.
  • Community Relations

  • to relate meaningfully to the organizations and structures of the metropolitan area as a community of churches, through involvement with our Partners in Mission, participation in community programs, and sponsorship of special events to bring people into the city.
  • Interfaith Relations

  • to witness to our deepest convictions and listen to those of our neighbors by demonstrating a Christian faith which sets us free to be open to the faiths of others, to risk, to trust, and to be vulnerable.  We will seek relationship with religious communities in the Detroit area that represent an inclusive interfaith network.  We also generate statements of concern on justice, race, and hatred issues which impact the interfaith community.
  • International Affairs

  • to strengthen our ties with the Windsor churches through special events, such as the Freedom Festival.  To participate in mutual issues, such as the Detroit River, and other environmental concerns.  To work with ACCESS, the Arab Chaldean Council and other organizations dealing with immigration matters, profiling and other ethnic issues.
  • Media

  • to share The Word through the use of all communication methods.  This includes television, cable, radio, print, and computer based technologies available to us now and those that might be created in the future.
  • Social Issues

  • to address local, state, national, and global situations that challenge, infringe, and invoke action.  Examples include ethnic and racial profiling, inferior education, poor transportation systems, access to health care, crime and terrorism.
  • Worship & Dialogue

  • to coordinate ecumenical worship experiences for Council congregations, such as the Christian Unity Service.  The Council is the local organization with the broadest range of ecumenical voices - Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant.  To provide opportunities for dialogue to inform our discussions between denominations and share insights with Council congregations, that we may become one in our witness, as expressed in Christ's prayer.
