ARCHBISHOP MICHAEL BOWEN was born in Gibraltar on the 23rd April, 1930. He was ordained priest for Southwark diocese on the 6th July, 1958 At the division of the diocese in 1965, he became a member of the Arundel and Brighton diocese and its first Chancellor and Private Secretary. He became coadjutor Bishop there on the 27th June, 1970 and was appointed Diocesan Bishop on the 14th March, 1971. On the 23rd April, 1977, he became Archbishop of Southwark. He has served in the parishes of Earlsfield and Walworth, and taught at the Beds College in Rome.
BISHOP JOHN JUKES OFM Conv. (below) was born in Eltharn on the 7th August, 1923. He entered the Friars Minor Conventual in 1947 and was ordained Priest on the 19th July, 1952. He was ordained Bishop on the 3Oth January, 1980. He has been Rector at Beaumaris in North Wales ands lecturer in philosophy, and has served in the parish of Waterloo and at the Franciscan Study Centre in Canterbury besides other posts in 'various pants of the country.
